Obituary for Lena G. Hirsch
Lena G. Hirsch, 93 of Winterset formerly of rural Dexter passed on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the West Bridge Care Center in Winterset. Visitation will be held from 3-7 P.M. on Friday, April 20th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Earlham. Family will be present from 5-7 P.M. Funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, April 21st at the Early Chapel Christian Church, rural Earlham. Burial will be at the Dexter Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Early Chapel Christian Church and/or the Madison County Ambulance. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Lena was born on November 15, 1924 to Wesley and Grace (Williams) Brown in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up around Pleasant Hill and graduated from East High School with the class of 1942. On June 9, 1945 she was united in marriage to W. Ray Hirsch. To this union two children were born, Trudy and Mark. The couple lived in Patterson and St. Charles before making their home on the farm south of Dexter. Lena stayed home and raised the kids while Ray worked on the farm. In her later years, she moved to Winterset then lastly West Bridge Care Center.

She was a member of the Early Chapel Church and the Red Hats Club. Lena was an excellent seamstress and was a talented quilter. She loved drinking coffee and always had a pot ready for anyone who may visit. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and treasured time she was able to spend with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Grace Brown; husband, Ray; twin sons, Gary and Gregory; daughter, Trudy and sister, Mary Hale.

She leaves behind her loving son, Mark (Tricia) Hirsch of rural Dexter; son-in-law, John Duncan of Springfield, MO; grandchildren: Tony Duncan, Amber Duncan, Jason Hirsch, Heather (Dan) Konevitch, Marty (Micaela) Hirsch; great-grandchildren: Daniel (Estephanie) Konevitch, Silas Konevitch, Sam Konevitch, Cael Hirsch, Maclayn Hirsch, Creed Hirsch, Maxx Hirsch; siblings: Ted Brown, Don Brown, Kathleen Nuzum, Violet Williamson and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
