Obituary for Ross Lee Terwilliger
Ross Lee Terwilliger, 75 of Stuart passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at his home in Stuart. Per his wishes cremation has taken place at Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory and no services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Dexter Public Library and sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Ross was born on October 23, 1941 the only son to Leo Earl and Helen Alice (Simon) Terwilliger in Des Moines. He attended Des Moines Schools and graduated from North High School with the class of 1960. Following graduation he attended Line A Type School in Charles City. In 1966 he was drafted in the United States Army where he served honorably in Vietnam until his discharge in 1968.

On November 18, 1961 he was united in marriage to Judy Kay Turner in Des Moines. To this union three children were born: Holly, Eric and Heather. The family made their home in Dexter where the couple remained until recently moving to Stuart. Ross spent his working career as a Printer for the Des Moines Register where he worked for 37 years. He was active in the Dexter American Legion, Dexter Lions Club, Dexter Fire Department, Jaycees and was a past president of the Dexter Library Board. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading but most of all he treasured time spent with his family.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Helen Terwilliger and a granddaughter, Victoria McCanlies.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Judy of Stuart; children: Holly (Daniel) Peichl of Dexter, Eric (Christina) Terwilliger of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Heather Terwilliger of Dexter; grandchildren: Cameron McCanlies, Lillian McCanlies, Jackson Smith, Ellie Smith, Amy Terwilliger, Natalie Terwilliger; step-grandson, Alex Peichl; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
