Alberta “Birdie” Lee Alexander, 87 of Stuart passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Community Care Center in Stuart. Funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. on Friday, May 18th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Visitation will begin at 2 P.M. and continue until the time of the service. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Menlo. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alberta “Birdie” Alexander Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Birdie was born on November 26, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in the Stuart area and graduated from Stuart High school with the class of 1949. She was united in marriage to LeRoy George Alexander on November 6, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Mary, Peggy, Sally and David. The family made their home in Stuart. Birdie worked as a bookkeeper for First State Bank, West Bank and 1st National Bank. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and crafting. She loved to travel; especially her trip to Japan. Most of all she treasured her time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Coryl and C. Noel Moore and her sister and brother in law, Kathryn and Kenneth “Dutch” Powell.
Alberta leaves behind her loving husband, LeRoy of Stuart; children: Mary (John) Agan of Las Vegas, Peggy (Mark) Goins of Ankeny, Sally (Rick) Guisinger of Menlo and David (Yuriko Togashi) Alexander of Vermillion, SD; grandchildren: Jennifer, Alicia, Laura, Andrew, Anne, Matthew, Erica, Bets; great grandchildren: Joshua, Tyler, Daniel, Evan, Dillion, Wesley, Katie, Brian, CJ, Brooks, Kaylee and great, great granddaughter: Briella; sisters: Lynne Belding of Earlham and Darlene Feder of Earlham; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
