Bertha Eilene (Butrum) Reed, 89, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away at Generations Batesburg Assisted Living on June 16, 2023. Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 23, 2023, in the Earlham City Cemetery.
Bertha was born November 10, 1933, in Iowa to William Clifford and Rosa Rebecca (Kirton) Butrum in Iowa. She grew up in Dallas, Iowa where she attended and graduated from Dallas Consolidated School in 1951. Bertha was united in marriage to Leo Wolfe, and they lived in Murray before moving to Osceola where she started working as a nurse’s aide. Bertha, then moved to Des Moines, Omaha, Nebraska, and Earlham. She met and married Bob Reed and together they made their home in Missouri before moving to South Carolina to be close to her daughter, Beverly. Bob preceded her in death in April of 2008. Bertha enjoyed being a nurse’s aide and being a caretaker throughout her life. She also enjoyed cooking, going to the senior center, playing a good game of bingo and visiting with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Rosa Butrum, her husband, Bob Reed, sister Mary Butrum and brother, Harold Butrum.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Becky (Adison) Crafts of Taft, California, David (Diane) Wolfe of Des Moines, Iowa, and Beverly (Ronnie) Dailey of Lexington, South Carolina and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren all of whom will miss her greatly.
