Betty M. Denning, 91, of Stuart passed away on June 18, 2016 at the Stuart Community Care Center. Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, June 24th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Private graveside services will be held at the Greenfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed in Betty’s name to Panora P.E.T.S. Betty Marie (Kramer) Denning daughter of William Herman Kramer and Elizabeth Nancy (Fort) Kramer, was born January 3, 1925 in Greenfield, Iowa and passed away on June 18, 2016 in Stuart, Iowa. At age 8, she and two younger brothers moved to Stuart, Iowa; to reside with a special uncle and aunt, Carl Henry Kramer and Marie Christine (Mensing) Kramer, into a loving Christian home. After graduating Valedictorian from Stuart High School in 1943; she was employed for 19 years for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Stuart, Iowa. She remained friends with the girls she trained and talked fondly about their children as her “telephone babies”. February 4, 1962 she was united in marriage with Carl Monroe Denning and they resided in Harrison Township, Adair County where she loved being a housewife. Carl and Betty moved to Stuart, Iowa November 1998 into a new home designed by Betty.
Betty loved sharing her Christian faith and her faith themed poetry with others. She volunteered at the Stuart Community Care Center teaching Sunday school for over 20 years. Betty was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield, Iowa where she was baptized and confirmed.
Preceding her in death were her two younger brothers, James William and Carl Lloyd, in a bullying episode gone bad at the Stuart Pond in 1942. Also, preceding her in death were all of her parents, her beloved husband Carl, and her two sister-in-law’s Bernice Tigges and Mildred Hansen. Betty is survived by 6 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews, a multitude of cousins and friends. Betty and Carl never had children of their own but many four legged babies.
