Betty Jean Marsh was born on April 11, 1933 in Guthrie County, Iowa to Vivian (Phippen) and Loyd Kunkle. She grew up in Stuart, Iowa and graduated from Stuart High School with the class of 1951. Betty was united in marriage to James Eugene Marsh on June 30, 1952 in Dexter, Iowa. They became the proud parents of son, Michael.

A life-long resident of Stuart, Betty loved her community. During high school she cheered on the Dragons as a member of the Cheer Squad and was also elected Homecoming Queen. Betty enjoyed working for Trent Upholstery in Menlo. Later she became owner of Betty’s Style Shop in Stuart which served the community for much of the 70’s and 80’s. After selling the shop, Betty worked for a variety of businesses in the community, with her final employment at Hometown Foods in Stuart. Betty loved to sew, taking on many projects for her family and friends. She was a member of the Stuart Quilting Club where she greatly enjoyed the relationships that grew there. Betty cherished her friendship with the “girls” and the adventures they shared during their “girls shopping weekends” every holiday.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lavonne Frizell and brother, Richard Kunkle.

Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 68 years, James Marsh; son, Michael (Penny) Marsh of Stuart; grandchildren, Aubrey (Taylor) Marsh-Yori of Evansdale and Alexa Marsh of Minnetonka, Minnesota; brother, Donald (Ethel) Kunkle of Stuart; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
