Robert “Bob” Edgington, 87 of Casey passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. on Friday, June 21st at the Casey United Methodist Church. Memorial service will begin at 11 A.M. at the church. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Casey United Methodist Church or the Casey Fire Department. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Bob was born on January 6, 1937 to Elmo and Letha (Harwood) Edgington in Guthrie County, Iowa. His father Elmo passed away when he was 11 months old and he was also raised by his step-father, Max Simmons. He attended Guthrie Center Schools and graduated from Guthrie Center High School with the class of 1956. He worked on the highway commission for many years before working at the City of Panora as the Public Works Director. Bob was a hard worker and provided for his family often working multiple jobs and projects on his house.
On September 16, 1956 he was united in marriage to Faye Murphy at the United Methodist Church in Menlo. To this union two sons were born, Steven and Kevin. The couple made there home in Panora before moving back to Casey. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and camping. He treasured time he was able to spend with friends and family camping in their motorhome.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo Edgington and Letha and Max Simmons; brother, Lawrence Edgington; and infant-granddaughter, Nicole Edgington.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years, Faye; sons, Steven (Donna) Edgington of Casey and Kevin Edgington of Stuart; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings: Barbara Moats, Malcolm (Nancy) Simmons, Keith (Barb) Simmons, Myrlen Simmons, Craig (Shirley) Simmons and Joyce (Dave) Anderson; sister-in-law, Darlene Edgington and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
