Brad, or Doc as he was known by family and friends, was born September 10, 1960 in Stuart, Iowa to Steve and Mary Ellen (Kasbohm) Gilman. He was raised in Stuart and graduated from Stuart-Menlo High School with the class of 1979. Brad went on to Iowa State University where he obtained a degree in Veterinarian Medicine. Shortly after graduating from Iowa State, Brad moved to Henderson, Nevada where he began his career as a Veterinarian. He owned and operated the Green Valley Animal Hospital for 20 years before selling it and returning to Iowa to be closer to family. Since his return, Brad has been a relief veterinarian in various locations including Des Moines and Ames. Brad was an avid Iowa State fan and breathed red and yellow. He loved watching and discussing sports, his favorites including the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Orioles, and of course Iowa State football and basketball. He also enjoyed cooking, good music, practicing veterinary medicine and spending time with his family and friends.
Brad leaves behind to cherish his memory, his three children, Cale Bradley Gilman of Florida, Tatum DeRue Gilman of Ames and Colin Brady Gilman of Chicago; parents Steve and Mary Ellen Gilman of Stuart; siblings, Scott Gilman of Oklahoma, David Gilman of Montana, Troy Gilman of Montana and Brenda Klepser of Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
