Brian was born to Bernard and Betty Lou (Taylor) Volz at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 9, 1960. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Menlo and Stuart, graduating from Stuart-Menlo High School in 1978. He continued his education at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, MN, where he received an associate ag business degree. He was employed in Des Moines for ten years, the last five of those as a billing coordinator at Intracorp. Due to his worsening physical condition, he retired to his parent’s home, later entering the Community Care Center in Stuart. While residing at the care center, he enrolled in online writing classes, leaving for his family and close friends to cherish, several self-published books of short stories, essays and poetry. These books will forever reveal Brain’s love for his family, of life, and his faith, which enabled him to rise above his frailties. He reminded all who knew him daily that strength is far more than muscular stamina. He was one of the strongest, most courageous, kindest and patient person ever to grace world. Those who knew him stood in awe at his quiet spirit.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his parents, Bernard & Betty Lou Volz; brother, Lauren & sister-in-law Donna, nephews: Brandon, Collin & Keenan.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff of The Community Care Center for the loving care given Brian.
