Obituary for Corey Allen Paetznick
Corey Allen Paetznick went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.
Corey was born on October 13, 1984, in Minneapolis, MN, to Julie and Clinton Paetznick. Shortly after his birth, Corey and his mother moved back to Iowa to be surrounded by family and friends.
As a youth, Corey was active in the Congregational Church in Stuart, Iowa. He also took part in a missions trip to Florida and summer camp at Raccoon River Bible Camp in Scranton, Iowa. He was also active in Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout in 2002. He also participated in Science Fair.
Corey loved sports and participated in club soccer, football, baseball, basketball and track. He also excelled in Punt, Pass and Kick as well as Throw, Hit, Run. Ever since Corey was a young kid, he would always round up neighborhood kids and play any sport – everyone had fun.
Corey graduated from Dowling High School in 2004. His freshman year he attended Northwest Missouri State University where he played football as a kicker. He received many accolades and was named Male Athlete of the Year. In 2004, Corey transferred to Iowa State University and began his studies in Finance and Marketing. He enrolled in the Marine Corp as a reservist in 2006 and returned to ISU after Basic Training in the Spring of 2006. He was called to active duty and served a tour in Iraq in 2008. After his tour, he finished his Bachelor of Science degree at ISU on May 8, 2010.
Corey worked for a number of years in the world of finance in the Des Moines. He moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and worked in the insurance industry.
Recently Corey moved back home to be near his family and friends and turned his live toward God, wanting to do good works in this world. In July of 2021, he started working for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District as a Custodian. He started his duties at the new elementary school, Meadow View, and loved it. He only worked for 4 months, but the impact on his life was profound. Corey said many times that this was the most rewarding job that he had ever had. He loved all of the students and became quick friends with them. He knew each student by name and made sure that he would connect with them during lunch time. He wanted each student to know that they were important to him. Not only did Corey want the students to know their importance, but the staff as well. He cared deeply for these young souls and was so happy that God had led him to this ministry.
Corey is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents: Allen and Boots Mallory and William and Gladys Paetznick; and his father, Clinton Paetznick.
Corey is survived by his mother, Julie Paetznick; Uncles, Allen Mallory, Jr., Jeffrey Mallory, Matthew (Ying) Mallory; Aunt, Kelly Mallory; Cousins, Nicholas (Kassie) Mallory, Ashley (J.T.)
