Dean Cotten, 83 of Dexter passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the Community Care Center in Stuart. The family will host a celebration of life service at the Dexter Roundhouse on Saturday, September 10th from 11 AM to 3 PM with a light lunch served. Dean was born on April 4, 1939 to Dudley Roy and Lucy Belle (Ellis) Cotten at the family home in Dallas County, Iowa. He grew up in the Earlham area and attended Earlham Schools graduating with the class of 1956. Following high school he began working as a general laborer at the Grain Exchange and then he drove a truck for Super Valu until his retirement. He was a long time member of the local Teamsters Union.

On January 27, 1962 he was united in marriage to Donna Jean “Pinki” Keltner at the Christian Church in Redfield. The couple was blessed with three children: Jim, Janine and Jacki. In his spare time, he loved motorcycles, snowmobiles, racing and could work on anything with an engine. Dean also enjoyed fishing and going to his cabin. Most of all, he treasured time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; and grandson-in-law, Justin Junk.

Dean leaves behind his loving wife, Pinki of Dexter; children: Jim (Andrea) Cotten of Dexter, Janine (Mike) Nelson of Earlham, and Jacki Cotten of Dexter; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Coppock and Naomi Chandler; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
