Obituary for Deborah Slayton

Deborah Slayton, 60 of Waukee, formerly of Casey passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 12th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Memorial contributions may be direct to Deb Slayton Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Deb was born on June 12, 1957 to Dale and Fannie (Lane) Slayton in Guthrie County, Iowa. She attended Adair-Casey Schools. In her younger years she worked several jobs in and around Casey. After moving away from Casey she lived several years in Des Moines, lastly living in Waukee. She worked the last ten years in the paint department at Menards in Clive. She was a very hard worker and took great pride in helping others in any way that she could. Deb loved horses and enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Fannie Slayton and several aunts and uncles.

Deb leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Rachel Whetstone of Waukee; grandsons, Jalen and Javon Whetstone of Waukee; brother, Darrell (LuAnn) Slayton of Manson; many aunts, uncles, extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
