Obituary for Dennis Madren

Dennis Madren, 74, of Redfield passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at his home. Memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, December 21st at the Redfield Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 10am-11am prior to the service. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfunerealhome.com.


Dennis was born on January 16, 1948 to Alice Elizabeth (Godwin) and Gerald Dean Madren in Dexter, Iowa. He grew up in Redfield and attended Dexfield High School graduating with the class of 1968. He spent most of his life in Redfield, He served as the President of the Redfield Jaycees and Mayor of Redfield from July, 2005 to December, 2009.


Dennis was a long-time employee at Super Value where he worked on the dock, drove a truck and was the Teamsters Union Steward. He later worked at the Redfield Tile Plant, City of Redfield, Xenia Rural Water and as a contract transporter. Denny also remodeled houses and owned a bar in Redfield.


Dennis enjoyed: golfing, hunting, fishing, music, dancing and playing cards with the guys at the Legion Hall. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Chase Elliott. Most of all he treasured the time he was able to spend with his family, friends and dogs, Jake and Gus.


He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Alice Madren and brother, Jerry Madren.


Dennis leaves behind his longtime companion, Margaret Woodhead. His daughter: Traca Madren of Johnston and her children Zoey (Joe) Perrigo and their daughter Hope, Avery (fiancé Tucker McCoy) and Darby Davis; His son Mike (Cindy) Madren of Earlham and their children: Logan, Mason, Dawson and Canton Madren; step-children: Jacqueline (Brian) Clair and their children, Mackinzie and Megan; Shawn (Rodger) Fredrick and their children: Jacob, Jaden and Carlie Fredrick; Michael (Christie) Woodhead and their children, Christopher (Brett) Woodhead and Meghan (Brandon) Tebo and their daughter Memphis. BobbiJo (Jeff) Dille and their children Joseph (Julie) and their son, Ethan, Nathan, and Abby. His siblings, Alyce Marie Madren and Jimmy Dean Madren; sister-in-law, Judy Madren and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
