Donald C. Lawson, 62, of rural Stuart passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016 at his home. Time of fellowship visitation will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM and memorial service held at 1 PM on Monday, January 4th at the Fairview Congregational Church in rural Stuart. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Donald Lawson Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Donald was born September 2, 1953 to Donald and Ardeth (Low) Lawson in Dexter, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm south of Stuart. He attended Stuart Schools and graduated from Stuart High School with the class of 1971. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served our country proudly. Following his discharge he returned home to Stuart. He worked concrete for years and lastly doing odd jobs.
Donald was a member of the Fairview Congregational Church. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and tending to his goats, chickens and pets. He loved anything associated with country-western and was said to be a cowboy born too late. He was also very proud of his hat collection.
Donald cared deeply for his sons and his grandsons. They were the joy of his life the past few years. Don had many good ole friends that brought entertainment to his life, and some great stories were enjoyed from him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Ardie Lawson; and infant brother, Gregory.
Donald leaves behind his sons, Gregg (Jennifer Slayton) of Menlo and Gregg’s son, Cael, Jake (Monica) of Stuart and their sons, Blaine and Gannon; brothers, Randall (Janet) of Stuart and Jack of Harlan and his daughter Brianna; several other nieces, family and friends that will miss him dearly.
