Obituary for Doris Harwood
Doris Harwood, 88 of Menlo passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center. Graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 20th at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Menlo. Online condolences may be left at

Doris was born on July 1, 1933 to Raymond and Sylvia (Johnston) Bainter in Redfield. She grew up in Redfield and attended Redfield Schools. Following her schooling, she worked for Dr. Porter and cleaned houses. On October 3, 1951 she was united in marriage to Earl Harwood in Maryville, Missouri. To this union two children were born Molly and Randy. The family made their home in Menlo where she spent the remainder of her life.

She loved gardening and canning, crocheting rugs, decorating cakes, attending garage sales and collecting music boxes. You could often find Doris at her kitchen table with a cup of coffee. Most of all she treasured time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; three sisters; one brother; and three brothers-in-law.

Doris leaves behind her daughter, Molly (Rick) Hupp of Bagley; son, Randy (Arlene) Harwood of Monteith; grandchildren: Jennifer, Emily, Steven, Stacy, Jaime, Amanda and Clint; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Bainter and Joann Harwood; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
