Douglas Paul Lyddon, age 55 of Earlham died peacefully at home on Friday, November 13. Per his wishes cremation has taken place at Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Earlham Chapel.
Doug was born on September 18, 1965 to parents, Marilyn & Cliel Lyddon in Greeley, Colorado. In 1975, the Lyddon family moved to Norwalk where Doug attended school. Following graduation, Doug attended a technical school in Wichita, KS. He later enlisted in the army where he received a good conduct medal and expert badge in hand grenade. As an adult, Doug earned his paralegal degree.
Growing up, Doug spent many summers working (and, yes playing) at the Waltz family farm. He loved the outdoors and he developed a very strong work ethic. No job was above him. His dedication to working served his family well as he raised two young daughters. Doug loved being a father and had the heart to be a parent when required.
After a long courtship, Doug married Wendy Beyreis on April 20, 2016. He loved their family, their dog Dusty and cats Angie & Lily.
Doug will be remembered by his wife, Wendy, his children Allison & Katie Lyddon, Keith & Dawn Bychinski; his parents Marilyn (Waltz) & Cliel; his brother, Patrick; his sister Beth Damm (Mitch); his brothers-in-law Terry Beyreis (Bonnie), Alan Beyreis (Linda), Kevin Beyreis (Sharon); sisters-in-law Pam Krause (Mark), Jane Krause (Jim) and many extended family members.
Doug was preceded in death by his infant son Christopher and his stepson Thomas Bychinski as well as grandparents and aunts & uncles.
A graveside service will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date
