Edward J. Donnelly, 89, of Stuart passed away October 18, 2022, at the Stuart Community Care Center. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church. Burial will follow the service in Calvary Cemetery in Stuart with Full Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stuart Fire Department and/or American Legion and/or St. Croix Hospice. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com
Ed as he was known by family and friends was born on August 9, 1933, in Casey, Iowa to John and Nellie (Morrison) Donnelly. As a child they family lived on a farm outside Casey, Iowa where Ed attended rural country school and later Casey Junior High and then the family moved south of Stuart and Ed graduated from Stuart High School with the class of 1951. Ed was united in marriage to Kathryn J. “Pat” Coldiron on September 11, 1952, in Stuart and to this union four children were born, Dennis, Randy, Tom and Alice. Ed enlisted into the United States Army on August 3, 1955, and during this time was part of 83rd Recon Division. He was later honorably discharged on May 31, 1957, at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Following this discharge, Ed continued his military in the Army National Guard until his final discharge on August 2, 1963. As a young man, Ed worked Griffin Implement until starting the Ed Donnelly Service in which he repaired and serviced his loyal customers until his retirement. Ed was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, American Legion Post in Stuart, Stuart Fire Department for many years and the John Deere Two Cylinder Club. He enjoyed puzzles, tractors, reading classic westerns, going out to eat especially Lincoln Lounge and spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie Donnelly, his beloved wife, Pat, on November 30, 2016, and his siblings, Dale, Dwain, Keith, Donnie, Delores, Karen, Darrell, and Larry.
Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Dennis (Donna) Donnelly, Randy Donnelly, Tom (Christy) Donnelly, and Alice Keras; grandchildren, Troy (Kasey) Donnelly, Trent Donnelly, Trevor Donnelly, Kiley (Florin) Rotari, Cody (Abbey) Donnelly, Chad Donnelly, Dani (Bobby) Taylor; great grandchildren, Paige Donnelly, Brenden Donnelly, Olivia Donnelly, Adrian Rotari, Gabriel Rotari, Victoria Rotari, Berkley Taylor, Everley Taylor, Clay Donnelly and Maci Donnelly; sister-in-law, Sue Hansen and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
