Obituary for Eugene Joseph Glynn
Eugene Joseph Glynn, 86, of Earlham, Iowa passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at Mercy West Hospital in West Des Moines, IA. A celebration of his life and Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 17, at Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee. A luncheon and time of fellowship will be held following the Mass at the church. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans cemetery at 12:30 P.M. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eugene Glynn Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 119, Earlham, Iowa 50072. Gene as he was known by family and friends, was born March 19, 1931 in Adair, Iowa to James P. an Annie Elizabeth (Hollinrake) Glynn. He grew up in Cass county IA. and graduated from Atlantic High School. Gene enlisted into the United States Army in February of 1952. Gene was united in marriage to Bonnie E. Conley on August 1, 1953 in Omaha and together they became the proud parents of six children, Patrick, Ronald, Becky, Terry, Nancy and Diane. After their marriage they lived in Atlantic, Moorland, and Wisconsin before making their home in Earlham in 1996. Gene farmed, but was best known as a General Contractor and President of Glynn Construction Company in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Following this he went to work as a General Contractor and as a project manager for various construction companies. He was a member of the Elks in Fort Dodge, American Legion both in Fort Dodge and Earlham, Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Moorland where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee and was a past volunteer fireman in Moorland. Gene enjoyed working, taking care of his family, woodworking, and good times spent with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Annie Glynn, daughter-in-law, Teresa Glynn and his 8 siblings.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of sixty-four years, Bonnie of Earlham; children, Patrick Glynn of Chandler, Arizona, Ronald (Claudine) Glynn of Boone, Iowa, Becky (Steve) Osborn of Arvada, Colorado, Terry (Sally) Glynn of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Nancy (Eric) Moorman of Pella, Iowa and Diane (Jason) McGriff of Tiffin, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
