Floyd John “Junior” Merical, 84, of Earlham, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home in Earlham. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Earlham United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Earlham United Methodist Church and/or American Lung Association and/or JDRF Diabetes Association. Floyd was born on September 16, 1932 in Adel, Iowa to Floyd Wesley and Frances Elizabeth (Schaffer) Merical. He was raised in Dallas County where he attended school. Floyd was united in marriage to Georgie Irene Ohm on August 25, 1950 in Missouri and together they became the proud parents of eight children. After their marriage they made their home in Earlham. Early on Floyd worked with his father spreading lime on local farmer’s fields before he went to work for Monarch Cement. Floyd was employed with Monarch for 43 years before retiring in 1997. Floyd enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, traveling, weekend camping trips and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Frances Merical and his beloved wife, Georgie on April 3, 1991.
Floyd leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Vickie Gilbert of Urbandale, Iowa, Rebecca Merical of Dardanelle, Arkansas, Teena Woodward of Sheffield, Alabama, Roben Fairchild of Stuart, Iowa, Ramon Merical of Boise, Idaho, Johnny Merical of Dallas Center, Roger Merical of Earlham and Shannon Merical of London, Arkansas; brothers, Carl Merical of Montezuma, Iowa, Jay Lee Merical of Greenfield, Iowa and Gary Merical of Brooklyn, Iowa; sister, Zola Williams of Adel, Iowa; 29 grandchildren; 81 great grandchildren; special friend Fern Douglas of Earlham and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
