Obituary for George William Marnach
George William Marnach, 86, of Stuart, Iowa passed away April 8, 2017 at the Stuart Community Care Center in Stuart. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 10:00 A.M. at the Church. Burial will be held at 2:30 P.M. April 22, at Fort Dodge Memorial Gardens in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made in George’s name to the All Saints Catholic Church. George was born May 10, 1930 in West Bend, Iowa to Michael and Mary (Laubenthal) Marnach. He attended schooling in the West Bend area as well. George enlisted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. During this time, he was stationed in in Japan and Hawaii. George was honorably discharged on June 16, 1952. Following his military tenor, George returned and was united in marriage to Barbara Virginia Vanande on July 19, 1952 in Chicago and to this union six children were born, Sharon, Christine, Ted, George Michael, Diana and Patricia. George was employed at USGypsum in Fort Dodge for 33 years before retiring. Besides Fort Dodge, George had lived in Terel, Emmetsburg, Lehigh, Otho and Las Vegas before making his home in Stuart. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW). In George’s spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking long drives with his best friend, Tammy Skellenger and spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary Marnach, beloved wife, Barbara, one son, George Michael Marnach and one daughter, Diana Lynn Marnach.

George leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Sharon (Douglas) Jirak of Stuart, IA, Christine McLuckie Green of Henderson, NV, Ted (Kim) Wold of Ridgley, MD and Patricia Kay (Roy) Peterson of Duncombe, IA; siblings, Thomas Marnach of Otho, IA, Agnes Brinson of Chino Valley, AZ and Bonnie Fletcher of Sedona Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Gina McLuckie Lucerno, Jeremy Canavan, Amy Wold Peterson, Jamie McLuckie Lincke, Jon Canavan, Angie Wold Hammen, Justin Phillips, Jay Phillips, James Green and Jared Green; great grandchildren, Angel Lucerno, Nathan Lucerno, Brandon Rodriquez, Josephine Canavan, Evelyn Canavan, Lyliah Phillips, Reese Phillips, Kayden Hammen and Kiera Hammen; great-great grandchildren, Lyndon Riley and Madilyn Riley and a host of other relatives and friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
