Obituary for Glen Martin Dudley
Glen Martin Dudley, 88, of Stuart passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Edgewater Retirement Community in West Des Moines. Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M. on Sunday, March 29th at the South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart. Refreshments will be served following the graveside service at the Stuart Congregational Church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Stuart Congregate Meals and sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 244, Stuart, IA 50250. Glen was born on November 27, 1926 to Earl and Jenny Mae (Marion) Dudley in Panora, Iowa. He grew up in Redfield and graduated from Redfield High School. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Japan and Korea working peace keeping missions. After being honorably discharged, he attended Iowa State University. On June 11, 1950 he was united in marriage to Eloise Brinton in Stuart. To this union four children were born: Janice, Warren, Alan and Marlys. The family made their home on a farmstead west of Stuart. Glen and Eloise built a home in Stuart in 1990. Glen continued to work on the farm daily until his move to Edgewater in West Des Moines.
Glen was a member of the Farm Business Association, serving as an officer, the Stuart Congregational Church, serving on the church board for many years; he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also active in many local Farm Bureau organizations. He enjoyed going to fish in Northern Minnesota and spending time with children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise; daughter, Janice and his parents.
Glen leaves behind his children: Warren (Pam) Dudley of Kansas City, Alan (Brenda) Dudley of Stuart and Marlys (Lynn) Fogt of West Des Moines; grandsons: Tony (Tiffany) Marlow, Todd (Megan) Marlow, Steven Dudley, Jeff Dudley, Greg Dudley, Grant Dudley, Ryan Fogt, Aaron Fogt; granddaughters: Wendy (Dave) Spoonholtz, Andrea (Mike) Mauton, Jennifer Dudley and Kelli Fogt; great-grandchildren, Michael Spoonholtz, Jessica Spoonholtz, Emerson Marlow, Greyson Marlow, Ava Marlow, Kasen Marlow, Alek Mauton and Krzystof Mouton; sister, Elaine Peterson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss him dearly.
