Stu, as he was known by family and friends, was born in Grundy Center to Dale and Elaine (Dewner) Stumberg. He was raised in Dike and graduated from Dike High School with the class of 1975. Following high school, Stu worked as a heavy construction operator for Peterson Contractors, Inc. for over 20 years before retiring. Throughout the years, Stu moved many times with the construction company until finally setting his roots in Menlo in 2007. It was in Menlo, he met his best friend and companion in life, Denise Miller. He enjoyed kicking back and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs with his dog, Riley. He enjoyed playing penny slots at the casino in Jefferson with Denise and spending time in his shop with his daughter. His absolute passion after retirement was woodworking. His latest project included designing and constructing a trophy and class composite cabinet, which is on display at the Menlo Community Building.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Elaine Stumberg, sister, Karen Stumberg, grandson, Parker Miller, and brother-in-law, Dallas Wildeboer.

Stu leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Tiffany Miller of Waukee; his companion, Denise Miller of the home, her children; Corey (Lacey) Miller of Urbandale and Tracy (Lesli) Miller of Urbandale; grandchildren, Olivia (A.J), Taylor (Bret), Keigan, Addisyn, Abram and Carter; great grandson, Quinton; grandcat, Lilly; siblings, Pam (Jon) Masmar, Barb (Bill) Seifert, Gary (Pam) Stumberg and Deb Wildeboer and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
