Obituary for Glenn Eldon Boss
Glenn Eldon Boss, 84 of Stuart passed away October 17, 2015 at the Stuart Community Care Center. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 21, at the First Congregational Church in Stuart. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glenn Boss Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home. The family of Glenn Boss would like family and friends to come with their favorite memory to share because there will be a time of sharing at his celebration.
Glenn Eldon Boss was born May 6, 1931 to Andrew John and Marie (Lemke) Boss. He attended rural schools as a boy. He enlisted in the US Army where he served our country as a combat engineer in Korea. Following his discharge, he was united in marriage to Mary Lee Miller on October 9, 1955. To this union five children were born. The family settled to the family farm south of Stuart.
Glenn spent his life farming the land, a job he loved. He took great pride in taking care of the land and providing for his family. In his later years, he enjoyed tending to his large garden, so that he could provide the fruits of his labors to his family and friends. Glenn custom farmed for many years, managed the Becam Apartments, and sold seed corn for 40 years. He was an avid bowler most of his life and was known as a great card player. Glenn was a great baseball pitcher as a young man becoming an avid Cardinals fan. He enjoyed going to casinos, playing slot machines, and watching sports especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary; his parents; brothers, Everett and Gene; sisters, Marlene Ford and Doris Horn Thomas; and infant daughter, Cindy.
Glenn leaves to celebrate his life: children, David (Barb) Boss, Andy (Becky) Boss, Brenda (David) Vyrostek all of Stuart; Connie Boss and wife Diana Pastor of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.
