Grace Donnelly (Joens), 95, of Stuart Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Friday November 22, 2024 with her family by her side.
Grace was born on October 2, 1929 in Audubon Iowa to Alfred and Christena Joens (Hoehne). She was next to the youngest of 9 children. She graduated from Guthrie Center High School. On March 27, 1951 she was united in marriage to Jim Donnelly of Stuart. Iowa. They were blessed with four daughters.
During her life Grace held several occupations. She worked for Look Magazine in Des Moines Iowa for several years before beginning a longtime career at United Super Save in Stuart Iowa. At the age of 70 she went to work part-time for the Stuart Community Care Center until her retirement at age 80.
Grace was the shining star at the center of her family. She loved to sing and dance and so enjoyed the many family gatherings over the years. She was affectionately known as “GDon” and “Queen Bee” by many in her family.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents and four brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her daughters Connie Polich (Tony) of West Des Moines, Debbie Roe and Sharon Faust of Des Moines and Christi Good of Ankeny; Grandchildren, Eric Faust, Jamie Johnson, Bryan Roe, Adam and Brandon Good; and Great Grandchildren Jack and Dylan Johnson, Brayden and Brianna Roe and Maverick Good.
The family will greet friends and family on Wednesday, November 27 from 10 to 11 A.M. at Johnson Funeral Home in Stuart. A graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Stuart. A light luncheon gathering will be held following the service at the Saints Center, 320 N. Fremont Street, Stuart Iowa.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to All Saints Church in Stuart Iowa.
