Helen (Raffensperger) Nevins, 92, of Stuart, Iowa passed away October 26, 2020 at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines. Per her wish's cremation has taken place at Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Stuart Chapel. There are no services planed at this time. Helen was born January 5, 1928 in Adair, Iowa and was raised by Gerald and Hazel (Raffensperger) Peake. When Helen was a child the family moved to Minnesota before settling in South Dakota. Helen graduated from Sioux Falls High School with the class of 1946. Following her graduation, she moved back to Iowa and settled in Stuart. She met the love of her life, Jim Nevins, while in Stuart and they were later united in marriage on January 31, 1948. Helen worked at the Egg Plant in Dexter, the Stuart Creamery and ran a daycare for several years out of her home in Stuart. Helen enjoyed playing cards, working with her flowers, dancing, listening to music, congregate meals, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Jim on March 28, 2008, son, Bob Nevins, and two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Bovee and Reagan Baarda.
Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Mary (Alan) Bovee of Stuart, grandchildren, Nathan (Shanna) Bovee of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Joshua (Erin) Bovee of Waconia, Minnesota, Sarah Nevins (Derek Akers) of Des Moines, Iowa and Anne Baarda of West Des Moines, Iowa; great grandchildren, Claire and Connor Bovee, Greta and Adaline Akers and Rome and Faith Baarda; her companion, Dawayne Kinnetz; longtime friends, Maxine Wallace and Rita Wilson, a special group of cousins, several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends, all of whom will miss her greatly.
