Obituary for Imogene Ruth Stanley
Imogene Ruth Stanley, 86 of Earlham passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Adel Acres in Adel. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Friday, February 17th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Earlham. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 18th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Earlham. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, north of Earlham in Union Township. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Imogene Stanley Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.  Imogene was born on May 6, 1930 to Verne and Mary (Madren) Summerson at the family home in Dawson, Iowa. She attended school in Dawson and graduated from Dawson High School. On November 17, 1955 she was united in marriage to Ralph Stanley Jr in Bedford, Iowa. The couple lived for a short time in Roundup, Montana before moving to Dawson for a number of years and settling at the family farm north of Earlham. To this union four children were born: Ralph, Theressa, Brenda and Wesley. She worked as a CNA at Dallas County Hospital, Dexter Hospital and Redfield Hospital. Most of her time was spent farming with her husband and raising her children.  She was a member of the Eastern Star, Perry bowling league and Perry Promanators Square Dance Club. She enjoyed bird watching and farming with her husband. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and working on Stanley family genealogy.  She was preceded in death by her parents: Verne and Mary, sister, Maudie Griffith and granddaughter, Heather Lewis.  Imogene leaves behind her loving husband, Ralph of Earlham; children: Ralph (Tad) (Donette) Stanley III of Earlham, Theressa (Jerome) Kral of Woodward, Brenda (Chuck) Lewis of Earlham and Wesley (Laura) Stanley of Earlham; grandchildren: Dustin Stanley, Ralph Nathanial (Tory) Stanley IV, Trevor (Katie) Stanley, Alysha DeHoet, Dylan (Carrie) Kral, Chelsey (Dillion) Devine, Clint (Cacy) Hupp, Jaime (Mark) Shoesmith, Sheryl Miller, Stephanie (Rob) Rhoades, Greg Lewis, Justin (Estelyn) Stanley, Jacob Stanley, Katelyn Stanley; great-grandchildren:  Cecilia, Ralph Arlo V, Henry Nash, Cole, Cayla, Camryn, Addison, Sydnee, Cyler, Logan, Kaylee, Mason, Annabelle, Cody, Nick, Tallis and one on the way; sister: Susie Reed and a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly.
