Jack was born on February 18, 1951 to Charles and Nancy Getty in Independence, Missouri. At a young age Jack’s father Charles passed away. His mother later remarried and he was proud to have his step-dad, Lee. Jack grew up in the Kansas City area and attended Lee’s Summit High School. He worked in the food industry most of his adult life working for Sara Lee and Kraft. Jack lived many years in California, Missouri before spending many years in Lorimor, Iowa. Lastly, he moved to Dexter to be closer to his grandchildren who he adored.

In his spare time, he loved sports especially the Kansas City Royals and Chicago Bears.
