Obituary for James Leonard Bisher
James L. Bisher, 67 of Stuart passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and daughters on Thursday, May 27, 2021. Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. on Tuesday, June 1st at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart with family present from 10-11 A.M. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 A.M. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Menlo. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the committal service at the Menlo Community Building. Jim was born on February 10, 1954 to Leonard and Dona (Ansley) Bisher in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Des Moines and Urbandale before later moving to Stuart where he attended Stuart-Menlo Schools graduating with the class of 1972. Following high school, he began working for his Dad at Bisher Construction, he then began his 33 year career as a carpenter at Wick Buildings and lastly working at Rose Acres.
On September 15, 1973 he was united in marriage to Glenna Miller in Stuart, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born Jodi and Stephanie. The family made their home in Menlo in 1976 and remained there until they moved to Stuart in 2016. Jim loved sports of all kinds especially bowling, slow-pitch softball, NASCAR, the Chicago Cubs, Iowa and Iowa State football and basketball, the Little League World Series and hockey. Jim and Glenna enjoyed traveling on cruises and Amtrak trains. Most of all, Jim treasured time he was able to spend with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dona Bisher; mother and father-in-law, Agnes and Glen Miller; brothers-in-law, Earl and Gary Miller and uncle, Lee Wolfe.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Glenna; daughters, Jodi Ward of Menlo and Stephanie (Mike) Kromrie of Stuart; father, Leonard Bisher of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Dylan (McKayla) Kromrie, Austin (Josie) Cook and their children, Jalaya and Maeleigh, Steven Ward, Nicholas Ward, Deven Kromrie and Aubrie Merical; siblings: Jerry (Julie) Bisher of Ames, Jenny Bisher of Kansas City, MO, Jeff (Vivian) Bisher of Sayre, PA and Julie Bisher of Harrison, AR; sister-in-law, Kathleen (Mike) Drake of Florida; aunt, Pat Wolfe of Urbandale; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss him dearly.
