Obituary for Janet Broshuis
Janet Frances Broshuis was born on February 27, 1930 in Trenton, Michigan to Joe and Gladys (Hamm) Galliano. She went to be with her Lord on June 27, 2019 at the Community Care Center in Stuart at the age of 89 years. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, July 2nd at the Johnson Family Funeral Home - Stuart Chapel. Small service will start at 7 P.M. on Tuesday following the visitation. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Janet grew up in Stuart, Iowa. She was baptized at the First Christian Church in Stuart. She graduated from Stuart High School in 1948. On May 30, 1950, she was united in marriage to Raymond Broshuis. They were blessed with five children: Cindy, Teresa, Rae Dean, Gary and Miann.
Janet was a wonderful mother and an extremely proud grandma and great-grandma. She loved spending time with her grandchildren: Chris Comstock (Lori) of Orient, Adam Comstock (Mindy) of Greenfield, Kecia Fencl (Tim) of Ames, Abbie O’Toole (Brian) of Walnut Creek, California, Sarah Riley of Milford, Brandon Martin (Alli) of Waukee, Katie Broshuis of Ankeny, Beau Broshuis of Ankeny, and Jess Vallette of Stuart, and especially enjoyed supporting them in sports, musicals, dance recitals, and many other activities. Grandma was always there for her grandchildren and loved sharing in their accomplishments. Janet had a tremendous love for her family. “I have the very best family in the world,” she would often say.
Janet was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, and would many times let it be known to her brother that his Oklahoma Sooners could not hold a candle to her Hawkeyes! Janet also enjoyed watching TV and an occasional trip to the mall, but spending time with her family was her biggest enjoyment.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, infant twin sister JeanAnn Galliano, infant brother Joseph Galliano, daughter Cindy Comstock, grandson Chad Comstock, granddaughter Melodee Martin, sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Ray Poole, and other relatives.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories daughter Teresa Place (Gary) of Okoboji, daughter Rae Dean Martin (Mike) of Stuart, son Gary Broshuis of Panora, daughter Miann Vallette of Stuart, brother Doug Galliano (Goldie Rae) of Stuart, sister Donita Christensen of Stuart, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Janet’s family wishes to express their gratitude for the many acts of kindness shown to them during their time of sorrow, and for the prayers for them throughout the past few years.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
