Obituary for Janice Eileen Jensen
Janice Eileen Jensen, 64, of Waukee passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at HCI – Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, March 20th at the Waukee Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 21st at the Waukee Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Waukee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Janice Jensen Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Jan was born August 4, 1950 in Greenfield, Iowa to Arthur E. and Leila I. Van Aernum Jensen. She was raised outside of Menlo and graduated from Menlo High School in 1968, she then enrolled at Clarinda Community College. She also attended DMACC where she earned her Associates in nursing. Jan received her BSN from the College of St. Francis. She was united in marriage to Bill Miller on August 23, 1970, and together they became the parents of two children, Bradley and Andrea. Jan lived throughout Central Iowa and most recently resided in Urbandale, Iowa. She married Lewis Helm on July 20, 2002, he preceded her in death on October 30, 2004. Jan was an active member of the Waukee Christian Church. This was a wonderful source of hope and inspiration for her. Her main enjoyment in life was her family, especially her children and grandchildren, friends, and caring for others.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lewis Helm, and her parents, Arthur and Leila Jensen. Jan leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Bradley Miller, of Urbandale, Iowa and Andrea Logemann (Justin Woodring) of Waukee, Iowa; siblings, Ardith Jensen of Clive, Iowa, Marilyn Barr (David Bradley) of Yorktown, Virginia and Darrell (Julie) Jensen of Menlo, Iowa; grandchildren, Tanner Miller, Lila Gebhart, and Garrett Miller and a host of other family and friends who will miss her greatly.
