Janice was born on March 21, 1950 to Harold “Archie” and Ida (Wright) Dunbar. She grew up in De Soto and attended Adel-De Soto Schools. She graduated from Adel-De Soto High School with the class of 1968. Following graduation she attended Patricia Stevens Finishing School to be an Airline Flight Attendant; where she worked for a year. On June 19, 1971 she was united in marriage to Phillip Moore in De Soto. To this union two sons were born, Shawn and Mark. The family made their home on the Moore family farm outside of Earlham.

During her younger years she was very active showing horses and barrel racing. She was the Van Meter Saddle Club Rodeo Queen in 1968. This passion stayed with her throughout her life as she was involved in Madison County Fair and Madison County 4-H for many years. She was inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame in 2010. Janice also loved collecting Indian pottery and jewelry from New Mexico. Most of all she treasured time spent watch her sons and grandchildren in their sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Ida Dunbar; and sister, Vicki Morrison.

Janice leaves behind her husband, Phil of Earlham; sons, Shawn (Tammy) Moore of Indianola and Mark (Marnie) Moore of Earlham; grandchildren: Kolby (Brooke) Moore, Kenadi Moore, Garrett Moore and Darby Moore; great-granddaughter, Rheya Moore; brother, Wayne Dunbar; mother-in-law, Carolyn Moore; sister-in-law, Susan Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
