Obituary for Jean Louise Prazak
Jean Louise (Ipsen) Prazak, 72, of Menlo passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017. A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of her life and message will be at 6:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in Morgan Township Cemetery in Schleswig, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jean Prazak Memorial Fund and these funds will be donated to the Puppy Jake Foundation for our service men and women. Jean was born May 31, 1945 in Ida Grove, Iowa to Lorenz “Whitey” Robert and Lois (Behrmann) Ipsen. Her childhood was spent in Des Moines where Jean attended and graduated from Lincoln High School. Following High School, Jean was united in marriage to Donald Prazak in 1963 and together they became the proud parents of two children, Liesa and Eric. Their early years of marriage was spent in Germany while Donald was in the military and following his discharge they moved to Des Moines. Jean lived in Des Moines until making her home in Menlo. She worked at Phillips 66 Station in Stuart, drove truck and worked at the Stuart Community Care Center for several years before retiring due to health reasons. For the past few years, Jean has been employed at the Stuart Motor Lodge. She was a past member of the Menlo Fire and Rescue Department. Jean loved crocheting and was known for her creative and artistic work. She enjoyed watching hockey, NASCAR and was an avid Jeff Gordon fan throughout the years, also working on puzzles. She also loved socializing with everyone as she never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lorenz “Whitey” and Lois Ipsen and her former husband, Donald Prazak.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Liesa LeFleur of Menlo and Eric (Cheryl) Prazak of Boone; Grandchildren, Christopher (Mandy) LeFleur, Heather (Jared) Gutknecht and Jared, Joel and Jason Prazak; Great Grandchildren, Alex LeFleur and Hayden and Kane Gutknecht; Sister, Mary (Steve) Mills; Nephews Drew and Cory Mills; A longtime friend of the family, Herbert Wahlert and a host of other family and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
