Jeri Diane Knode, 63, of Yale passed away surrounded by her family at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, October 21st at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Jeri was born on March 18, 1959 to Charles and Dorothy (Collins) Maxwell in Story County, Iowa. She grew up in the Nevada and Hubbard areas graduating from Hubbard High School with the class of 1977. Following graduation she attended DMACC where she received a degree in social work. She lived many places around the area before settling in Yale. She was united in marriage to Mike Knode and they were blessed with three children: Dawn, Tracy, and Andrew. She later met the love of her life Ryan Gilliland who passed away in 2010.
Jeri worked a number of years at Maid-Rite in Perry and later working with mentally-challenged residents at a group home. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, attending church and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Jeri was known for her caring and giving heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; great-granddaughter Alice and the love of her life, Ryan Gilliland.
She leaves behind her children: Dawn (Brad) Kinzie and their children: Hunter (Taya) Kinzie and Beverly Kinzie, Tracy (Jesse) Walker and their children: Domonic (Erica) Walker, Preston (Kylie) Walker, Jacob Walker and Payton Walker, Andrew (Kerry) Knode and their children: Brandon (Liz) Davis, Denver Davis, Andrea Knode and Aleah Knode; great-children, Asher and Nathan Davis and two more on the way; brothers, Joel (Barb) Maxwell and Bruce (Diane) Maxwell; and a host of nieces and nephews will miss her dearly.
