Obituary for John Edward Moore
John Edward Moore, 73, of Stuart passed away peacefully August 1, 2021, at his home surround by family. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M., August 5, at the Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Stuart Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart. Memorial contributions may be made to the John Moore Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com. John’s service will be live streamed on Friday.
John was born April 4, 1948, in Iowa City, Iowa to Edward and Martha Bancroft Moore. He was one of 14 children born to this marriage. John grew up in Menlo and graduated from Menlo High School with the class of 1966. Following graduation, John was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann Jones on July 16, 1967, in Stuart, Iowa and together they became the proud parents of 4 children. Following their marriage, they lived in Menlo before making their home in Stuart. John worked for 32 years at Okoboji Sawmill near Redfield before being employed at Iowa Springs in Adel where he worked for 15 years before retiring in 2007. John enjoyed tinkering, fishing, and hunting with his boys and making his own log splitter.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Martha and siblings, William Moore, Carl Moore, Donnie Moore, Joe Moore, Margaret Gandy and Della Rhoades.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Elizabeth Moore of the home; children, Billy (Luz) Moore of El Paso, Texas, Dave (Carla) Moore of Paris, Arkansas, Kevin (Dustina Gathercole) Moore of Boone, Iowa and Sharon (Mark) Safley of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Crystal Moore, Cameron Moore, Cheyanne Moore, Mia Moore, Jonathan Moore, Kaitlyn and Zach Sonnenburg, Ashley Safley & finance Jonathan, Serenity Safley and Hailie Safley; siblings, Ellen (Dave) Foster of Norwalk, California, George (Nancy) Moore of Panora, Iowa, Mary (Milt) Beaver of Arizona, Tom (Jan) Moore of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mike (Carol) Moore of Menlo, Iowa and Christine (Greg) Miller of Colorado and Jim (Kathy) Moore of Corning, Iowa.
