Jack, as he was known to family and friends, was born December 31, 1931 in Sioux City, Iowa. At the age of two, Jack was adopted by Harry Ingen and Edna Mae Korber Fugle. As a child, Jack lived in Clarinda until moving to Kansas City, Missouri with his parents. He attended Clarinda High School and graduated from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri where he played in the jazz band. He was united in marriage to Betty Gaddis on November 8, 1956 in Shenandoah. Jack started working in his family’s bakery in Clarinda before being employed by Firken’s Shade and Drapery in Des Moines where he learned everything there was to know about the drapery business. Heartland Paper Company was a business he also worked for, as a Sales Rep. He put this knowledge to work when he got hired at Younkers, which was one of the biggest retailers of draperies at the time. He loved his work at Younkers, but after several years the company decided to close that department. Following Younkers, Jack worked for a grocery company based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota before retiring. After they moved to Stuart, Jack attended Grandview College for a year. He was a longtime member of the Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Stuart, which was a source of hope and inspiration to both Jack and his beloved wife Betty. He enjoyed old cars and car shows, bowling, rose gardening, making stained glass, and playing the piano and trumpet.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Betty of Stuart; Sons, Jack Fugle of Springfield MO, Randy Fugle of Springfield MO; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; Cousin, Phyllis Liddell of Frederick MD. and a host of friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
