Obituary for Joseph G. Lemar
Joseph G. Lemar, 85, of Stuart passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Stuart Community Care Center. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, December 26th at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Stuart. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Joseph Lemar Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Joseph was born June 26, 1929 on the family farm southwest of Stuart, Iowa to Guy George and Mary Josephine (Diebold) Lemar. He lived in and around Stuart all his life, except the two years he served in the United States Army, stationed mostly in Germany.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, life-time member of the Stuart American Legion and also the VFW.
Joe liked farming and worked hard spending many long hours to provide for his family. He retired in 1992.
He married Mildred (Stanley) Belding on March 22, 1963. They were blessed with one daughter, Susan Kay which was the joy of his life. Joe loved his home, his family and good food. He was a devoted husband, a wonderful dad including his step-children and their families.
He liked guns and in his spare time was an avid trap-shooter and continued until his health failed. He belonged to the ATA and shot over 200,000 registered targets..
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gus; two step-daughters; one son-in-law; and one step-granddaughter.
Those thankful for sharing in his life, are his devoted wife, Mildred of 51 years; daughter, Susan (Jay) Butler; one precious granddaughter, Cassandra Lynn Lemar; two sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Lemar and Ruby Hodge; nephew, Tracy (Deb) Lemar; two great-nephews, Alex and Jake Lemar; numerous step-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
