Josephine Knox was born, and grew up in, Chicago, Illinois. Jo graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School in Chicago in 1945. She worked as a secretary for Prudential Insurance Company in Chicago. On August 5, 1953 she married Carl David Knox at the Park Avenue Congregational Church in Denver, Colorado. After living in Colorado and Iowa, David and Jo settled with their son in Ralston, Nebraska and later Elkhorn, Nebraska.
She is survived by her son Thomas David Knox and his wife Cynthia Anne, and their son David Jonathan of Overland Park, Kansas; and their daughter Kimberly Anne Mullins (Jakob Wiley) of Elkhorn, Nebraska; brother Walter J. Skora of Bella Vista, Arkansas; and her nieces Katherine Skora of Chicago, Illinois, Karen Kadubek of New Lenox, Illinois, Kimberly Fogarty of Oak Park, Illinois, and Kristine Skora of Chicago, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Adeline Skora, and sisters Emilie Skora and Adeline Sandberg.
Jo loved to cook, read the newspaper, discuss current events, write letters of encouragement, watch Nebraska football, cherish her grandchildren, and express her love through gift giving. She was a proud survivor of the Omaha Tornado of 1975.
Josephine passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in Overland Park, Kansas. A graveside service was performed at the South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart where she lies by her beloved David. Memorial contributions may be directed in Jo’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Iowa. Professional services entrusted to Johnson Family Funeral Home – Stuart Chapel.
