Obituary for Joshua John Olson
Joshua John Olson, 36, of Granger passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, September 10th at Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside service will be held at 3 P.M. on Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Joshua Olson Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250 and will be used for his children’s college fund. Josh was born April 21, 1979 to Carroll and Jeree (Brandt) Olson in Clarion, Iowa. He grew up in Dows, Iowa and enjoyed playing football, track, and especially golf. He graduated from Dows High School with the class of 1997. After graduation, he attended Iowa State University where he majored in Turf Management and graduated it 2001 with a B.S., Horticulture. While at Iowa State he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He started his career at Tri-State Toro, where he specialized in golf turf management sales, and was able to enjoy his love of the outdoors.
On August 16, 2008 Josh was united in marriage to Amber Marsh at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter, Iowa. The couple made their home in Granger. To this union they were blessed with two children: Leif John and Lena Liv. He was a loving husband & father. Josh enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially teaching his son Leif to fish as his Dad had taught him. Josh was so proud of his sweet, funny, little daughter, Lena, who already had him wrapped around her little finger. He loved going on vacation with his family and spending time in nature. As an alumni of ISU, Josh enjoyed the ISU football season, tailgating and attending the games with his wife, Amber, and introducing his children to ISU football, a shared bond with his sister, Chelsea and her family. Josh was employed at Ziegler Caterpillar as Construction Territory Manager, where he was in sales and taught classes at Iowa State University. Through his jobs he had joined many professional organizations.
Josh was preceded in death by his paternal-grandparents, Christian and Jeanette Olson.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Amber; children Leif and Lena; parents, Carroll Olson and Jeree Olson; sister, Chelsea (Matt) Wyatt and their children, Cael, Aiden and Ava; maternal-grandparents, Morris and Judy Brandt; mother and father-in-law, David and Shelley Marsh; sister-in-law, Angelena (Robert) Heim and their children, Millie and Nola and sister-in law, Ashley (Charles) Miller and their children, Rhowen, Remi and Riggins; aunts, Jane (Lynn) Fisher, Mary Brandt and Judy Olson; uncles; Mitch (Deb) Brandt, Marty (Wendy) Brandt, Joel (Liz) Olson; cousins, Lisa Sinkovich, Jeff Mussman, Clare Willey, Rob Willey, Jennifer Willey, Vanessa Squires, Domonic Brandt, Jake Brandt, Rebekah Olson, Rachel Wiezorek, Heather Olson and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
