Joyce Ann Hall Trent, 81, of Menlo passed away November 27, 2016 at the Stuart Community Care Center. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 2nd at the Johnson Family Funeral Home – Stuart Chapel. Graveside services will follow the visitation at 11:30 A.M. in the Rosehill Cemetery in Menlo. Joyce was born June 28, 1935, the daughter of Edward C. and Francis A. Kuster Hall in Guthrie County on a farm west of Guthrie Center, Iowa. She started school in the Country, then the family moved south of Stuart where she attended a country school. Later, the family moved to California for about a year before moving back to Iowa. Joyce finished her schooling in Menlo. In 1951. She married Robert Stringer and two boys, Robert and Charles were born to this union. In 1955, Robert passed away. In 1956, Joyce married Allen “Eddie” Slight, they had one son, John. That marriage ended in 1965. In April of 1966, Joyce married John Leonard Trent who had a daughter, DyAnne from a previous marriage. Together they had two daughters, Teresa and Tammy. In 1966, Joyce went to work in nursing homes. She took nursing aide schooling and later medical aide schooling. She worked at the Stuart Community Care Center in Stuart for 16 years and then at Country View Estates for 10 years. After retiring, Joyce did daycare in her home for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved every moment of it. Joyce’s favorite pastime was spending time with her family especially all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Francis Hall, husbands, Robert Stringer, Allen “Eddie” Slight and Leonard Trent, sons, Robert and Chuck Stringer, grandsons, Ricky Brown, granddaughter, Mellissa Stringer, four brothers, Edward “Bubbie”, George, Howard and Glen Henry “Hank” Hall, four sisters, Doris Camesao, Dorine Beem, Mary Swartzendruber and Julia Faust.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved children, John (Kathy) Slight, Teresa (Mike) Maynes, Tammy Stevens, and DyAnne Behnken; brother Lawrence (Patsy) Hall; daughter-in-law, Nancy Stringer, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren with one cookie on the way and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
