Kenneth was born April 6, 1949, in Redfield, Iowa to Lyle and Dolores (Dunbar) Summy. He grew up on a farm outside of Earlham near Goeldner Woods. Kenneth graduated from Earlham High School and following high school he married his high school sweetheart, Dixie Piercy on February 2, 1968. Together they became the proud parents of two children, Stephanie, and Chad. Following their marriage, they made their home in Earlham to raise their family.
