Obituary for Laree Marvelle Feller
Laree Marvelle Feller, 78 of Redfield passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the Community Care Center in Stuart after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, July 7th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Dexter. Family graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at the Dexter Cemetery. Laree Marvelle Feller was born on January 6, 1943 to Marvelle and Betty (Downing) Feller. Laree grew up on the family farm near Redfield and attended Redfield schools, graduating from Dexfield High School with the class of 1961. He lived his entire life in Dallas County.
On July 18, 1964, he was united in marriage to Jean Cox at the Dexter United Methodist Church. To this union two children were born: Marc Allen and Stacey Lynn. The happy couple started their married life living in Redfield where Laree served a term on the city council. Laree worked for Iowa Soya/Cargill following graduation from AIB in Des Moines. In 1968, he joined his father and brother with the farming operation. Laree also worked many years as a DeKalb salesman. The family eventually moved to the home place where his grandparents once lived which was honored as a Century Farm.
In his spare time he enjoyed attending sports and activities for his children and grandchildren. He also loved playing cards whenever he, his brother and dad would sneak in a card game at the legion hall in Redfield over their lunch hour. Laree enjoyed coffee with his friends at the co-op.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvelle and Betty Feller; brother-in-law, Robert Zellers; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Marsha DeHoet; father-in-law, Lawrence Cox.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; children, Marc (Wendy) Feller of Redfield and Stacey Feller of West Des Moines; grandchildren: Cody Feller of Dexter, Kelsey (Cameron) Dlouhy of Polk City, Abigail Feller of Redfield, Alex Long of Perry, Madison Feller of Redfield and Macy Long of Redfield; great-grandchildren, Tryce, Breckyn and Hadley Dlouhy; brother, Harold (Doris) Feller of Dexter; sisters: Elaine Zellers of Fountain Hills, Arizona, Joan (Glenn) Grove of Council Bluffs and Shirlee (Larry) Ganoe of Redfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
