Obituary for Linda Jane Nelson
Linda Jane Nelson, 58, of Menlo passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at University Hospital in Iowa City. Visitation will be held Friday, November 7th from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Dexter City Cemetery. Linda was born April 28, 1956 to Roy and Mary (Coltrell) Crist in Greenfield, Iowa. She attended Weldon Grade School and Osceola High School graduating with the class of 1975. She was employed at the Greenfield and Stuart Nursing Homes where she served as a nurse’s aide. Linda also was employed with Super 8 in Stuart until her illness. She enjoyed taking care of elderly people and helping them in every way she could. She enjoyed working with crossword puzzles, watching the Young and the Restless, attending garage sales, cooking and helping with the Stuart Congregate Meals for four years. Linda was united in marriage to Robert Nelson on October 9, 2004 in Guthrie Center. The couple settled and made their home in Menlo. Linda loved spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Robert Nelson; and brother, Danny Crist.
Linda leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughter, April (Kevin) Pierce of Creston; siblings: Conrad Crist, Sheila Fisher, Mary Ann Giles, Brenda Giles, B.J. Jackson; Eldon Giles, Christina Crist, and Scott Crist; step-children: Hollie (Marc) Patten of rural Orient, Heather (Rick) Dunmire of Greenfield, and Crystal (Matt) Hall of Casey; mother-in-law Myrna Nelson of Menlo and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other family and friends that will miss her dearly.
