Lorraine was born on October 3, 1951 to Ralph and Emma Jane (Scott) Emerson. She grew up on the family farm south of Stuart. She attended Stuart schools and later moved to Alleman where she graduated from North Polk High School with the class of 1969. On April 7, 1973 she was united in marriage to David Messinger. To this union two children were born, Jodi and Bill. The couple lived in Menlo and on the farm outside of Menlo. Later they moved to their farm outside of Casey. She worked more than 20 years at EMC Insurance and later worked at Panorama Schools. Lorraine was a longtime member of the Menlo Legion Auxiliary and the Guthrie County Pork Producers.
In her spare time she enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, playing cards and slow-pitch softball. Most of all, she treasured time she was able to spend with her children and grandsons especially trips to Wyoming for Frontier Days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Arnie Clifton; and son-in-law, Jeff Meiners.
She leaves behind her loving husband, David of Casey; children, Jodi Meiners of Carroll and Bill (Sarah) Messinger of Casey; grandsons: KC and Will Meiners and Calhoun Messinger; siblings: Carol (Jerome) Wilkinson, Jim Emerson and Jeanie (John) Wallace; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
