Marcia Patricia Goddard, 61, of rural Stuart passed away July 9, 2016 at her home. A visitation tribute will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home – Dexter Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com. Marcia was born August 23, 1954 in Des Moines to George Edward and Janola Jane (Bergman) Goddard. She grew up in Des Moines and attended Visitation Catholic School, Hiatt Jr. High and East High School. Marcia was employed as a CNA at Bishop Drumm in Des Moines before being employed at Stone Container where she worked for over 18 years. In 1993, she moved to Stuart where she lived and worked as a CNA at the Stuart Community Care Center. She lived in Stuart until moving to Adair where she lived for a few years before moving south of Stuart. Marcia loved living in the country, which has always been a dream for her. Her enjoyments included the outdoors especially swimming and fishing. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross stitching, and shopping, but her favorite past-time was spending quality timer with her family and friends.
Marcia is proceeded in death by her parents, George and Janola Goddard, brother, Robert Goddard, sister, Janis Goddard, brother-in-law, Robert Seals, nephew, Daniel Seals, grandparents, Clarence and Ruby Bergman and George and Frances Goddard.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved son, Michael Matherly and his fiancé Robin Rink of Creston, Iowa; sisters, Debra Goddard of Des Moines and Christine Seals of Ogallala. Nebraska; special friend, Leon Jessen, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
