Margaret Caskey, 84 of Windsor Heights passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at the Granger Nursing Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, April 24th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Earlham. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 25th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Earlham. Burial will be in the Penn Center Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Margaret’s name to the charity of choice. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Margaret was born on December 8, 1940 to George Donald and Mildred Ilene (White) Letz at the Winterset Hospital. She grew up in Earlham and attended Earlham High School with the class of 1959. She was united in marriage to Thomas Payne on October 4, 1958 at the Winterset Church of Christ. They were blessed with two children, Marla and Brant. After Thomas’s passing in 1980, she married Michael Caskey on June 12, 1982 and the couple settled in Windsor Heights.
She was a longtime employee at Von Maur as a Pacesetter for the company. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and tending to her flowers. She was an excellent checkers player and an avid antique collector; especially rare Pillsbury Doughboy collectables.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; son-in-law, Kevin Chevlair; two sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Caskey of Windsor Heights; daughter, Marla (Bryce) Hope of Winterset; son, Brant Payne of Earlham; step-son, Jeff (Tammi) Caskey of Urbandale; step-daughter, Melanie Chevlair of North Carolina; step-son, Mark (Paula) Caskey of Ankeny; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
