Margery Ruth (Harvey) Dudley, 84, of Granger, formerly of Redfield passed away peacefully on August 19, 2014 at Deerfield in Urbandale, Iowa. A private graveside service tribute will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at Morrisburg Cemetery in rural Stuart. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Redfield Public Library, in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 57, Dexter, Iowa 50070. Margery was born on October 31, 1929 to Hallett and Ruth (Brandell) Harvey in Guthrie Center, Iowa. After graduation from Redfield High School in 1947 she went on to attend Central College in Pella and Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where she studied Journalism. She was united in married to Carl Dudley on June 4, 1949 and they settled in Redfield to farm and raise their family. Three children were born to this union: Diane, Sandy and Dick. Margery was employed by the Iowa Department of Human Services for 20 years in Dallas and Polk County. Margery was full of life and continued being active up to her illness. She prided herself on being up to date with modern technology and even taught herself how to operate a computer by reading how to computer books from the library. She was an avid reader and loved to talk politics. Her family enjoyed her extra-large chocolate chip cookies, holiday ham loaves, decorated birthday cakes and the always favorite Christmas ice cream cake.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hallett and Ruth Harvey.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Carl Dudley of Bickford in West Des Moines; brother, Gerald Harvey of Stuart; children, Diane (John) Loffredo of West Des Moines, Sandy Dudley of West Des Moines and Dick (Angie) Dudley of Granger. Also surviving are grandchildren: Amy Loffredo, Jennie (Kevin) Hogan, Toni, Joel, Hope, Nathan, and John Dudley; and great-grandchildren, Ellie Knauf and Grace, Claire and Ben Hogan and a host of other family and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
