Born on January 16, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa, Marilyn lived a full and adventurous life, touching the hearts of everyone she met.

Marilyn was the cherished daughter of Mavis and Dean Davis, who instilled in her a strong sense of family and community. She grew up in a loving household, and her talents became apparent early on. She graduated from Dexfield High School in 1960, where she was an active participant in several clubs, basketball, band, and drawing—her favorite pastimes that she carried with her throughout her life.

In 1960, Marilyn married Jack Glenn, and the couple was blessed with two children, Cynthia and Brian. While raising her family, Marilyn discovered her passion for art. She became a talented sketch artist and painter, working at the Dennis Dorman Studio in Perry, IA, where she touched up photos and won regional and national awards for her work. She later expanded her artistic endeavors to painting wildlife and landscapes, creating cherished pieces for family and friends. Though Marilyn and Jack eventually divorced, their shared love for their children and the memories they created together remained a significant part of her life.

In 1985, Marilyn found love once more and married Charles Maffin at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together, they purchased a farm in Earlham and built a new life filled with joy and companionship. Marilyn loved the farm life, where she thrived on socializing with friends and family and enjoyed memorable trips with Charlie to Cherokee, IA. She also worked as a cook for the Adel school district, bringing warmth and sustenance to countless students.

After Charlie's passing in 2013, Marilyn spent her winter months in Arizona, where she found solace and new friendships in weekly senior dances and ceramic classes. Her zest for life and her ability to connect with others shone brightly during these years.

Marilyn's life was marked by her incredible spirit and her unwavering commitment to her loved ones. Her compassion was most evident in the care she provided for her daughter Cindy during her long illness, doing everything she could to keep Cindy and her boys together.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Cynthia Glenn, her husband Charles Maffin, and her parents Mavis and Dean Davis. She is survived by her son Brian (Ann) Glenn of Johns Creek, GA, and their son Joseph Blank Glenn of Alpharetta, GA. She also leaves behind the children of her late daughter Cynthia: Daniel (Hannah) Mayer of Redfield; Thomas Mayer of Adel; and Mitchell Mayer of Alpharetta, GA. Additionally, Marilyn is survived by her step-children, Becky (Steve) Massure of DeSoto, their children Michelle (Dain) Santarelli, and Wade (Jessica) Massure; Chuck (Lydia) Maffin of Van Meter, their children Jesse (Mary Beth) Maffin, Kelsey (Bindi) Maffin, and Haley Maffin; Matt (Sue) Maffin of Earlham and their children Bryan (Memory) Porter and Tricia (Brad) Newcomb; and a host of great-grandchildren all of whom will miss her greatly.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Generous Care Giving of Buford, GA; Ray, Cherie, and “best friend” Dee who provided Marilyn with exceptional loving care for which we are forever grateful.
