Obituary for Marvin Ross Reynolds
Marvin Ross Reynolds passed away March 9, 2022 at his home in Redfield, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2-4 P.M. on Sunday, March 13th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, March 14th at the Redfield Christian Church. Burial will be at Harper Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed in Marvin’s name to the Redfield Christian Church. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Marvin was born December 13, 1937 on a farm near Dallas Center to Vern & Arlene Reynolds. The family moved to Redfield in 1942. Marvin graduated from Redfield High School in 1955. In 1956 Marvin went to Printing School at the University of Iowa.
Marvin worked for the Stuart Herald for a year, the Dallas County News for seven years, and the Des Moines Tribune for 9.5 years.
Marvin married his high school sweetheart, Donnabelle Madren (Donna), November 10, 1957. To this union four children were born: David in 1958, Deb in 1960, Brad in 1961 and Jodi in 1973. In 1970, Marvin and Donna purchased the Redfield Produce Co from his uncle, Jess Reynolds, and changed the name to Redfield Feed & Supply. Marvin and Donna ran the business for 34 years before selling it to their son. Marvin raised hogs for many years before retiring.
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye athletics and visiting with local farmers. Marvin was a long time member of the Redfield Christian Church, where he served on the church board, was a deacon, and volunteered many hours working on the church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Vern in 1987, and Arlene in 2002; brother, Gary in 2004; sister, Patricia in 2022; and daughter, Jodi in 2022.
He is survived by his wife Donna of Redfield; children: David (Niki) Reynolds of Overland Park, KS, Debbie (Tom) Light of Redfield, IA, and Bradley (Lacey) Reynolds of Dexter; grandchildren: Dustin (Emily) Light and their daughter, Landrie, Austin (Maggie) Light and their children, Collin, Connor and Cali, Tanner (Amber) Light and their son, Cooper, Ashley (Jamie) Zika and their children, Jaylee and Jentry, Ross (Tatum) Reynolds and their daughter, Blakely, Hannah Reynolds, Will Reynolds, Zach (Kayla) Reynolds and their children, Deegan, Savannah and Nash, Dalton Reyonlds, Jordan Reynolds, Logan Reynolds, Tiffany (John) Dunagan; siblings: Shirley Forshier of Redfield, Richard (Barb) Reynolds of Redfield, Robert (Dorothy) Reynolds of Dexter and Randy (Marilyn) Reynolds of Stuart; brothers-in-law, Danny (Bonnie) Madren of Missouri and Ronnie (Karen) Madren of Arizona, and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
