Mary was born on December 29, 1926 to James and Irene (Farrell) Lillie in rural Menlo, Iowa. She grew up south of Menlo and attended Menlo High School graduating with the class of 1945. On August 25, 1949 she was united in marriage to Robert Dickson at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. To this union five children were born: Jim, Jerry, Karen, Joyce and Craig. The family settled on the farm north of Menlo, where Mary was a homemaker and assisted Bob on the farm for many years.

She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, All Saints Altar and Rosary, All Saints Catholic Daughters, Stuart Garden Club, Farm Bureau Homemakers, A-OKia Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mary loved tending to her garden and being outside. She also enjoyed working on ceramics. Most of all she cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Irene Lillie, sisters, Grace Woolway and Pauline Lamberty.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years, Robert; sister, Sr. Judene (Ann) Lillie; children: Jim (Dianne) Dickson, Jerry (Janet) Dickson, Karen (Mark) Frisbie, Joyce (Roger) Tibben, Craig (Terri Mitchell) Dickson; grandchildren: Ryan Dickson, Eric Dickson, Matt Dickson, Mike Dickson, Brad Dickson, Angela Boettner, Jennifer Lesac, Chris Tibben, Clint Tibben, Amy Tibben and Randy Tibben; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
