Obituary for Mary Jayne Bullock
Mary Jayne (Jayne) Bullock (Otto), 80 went home to the Lord on April 17, 2021. Jayne grew up in and around Nevada, IA where she met and married Paul Edwin Bullock. They moved to Marshalltown in 1964 and raised their three children. Jayne attended AIB, Marshalltown Community College and later in life attended Iowa State University where she received a degree in journalism. Jayne spent many years working for the Marshalltown School District, Area Education Agency 6 supporting special education and for Marshall County Youth, Runaway & Family Services. After receiving her degree, Jayne worked as a feature writer for various publications and local papers including the Ames Tribune and Marshalltown Times Republican. Jayne was also a published author of poems and a novel. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, needlework, scrapbooking, genealogy, spending time in nature or with her friends and family. Jayne loved adventure and travel with one of her most memorable trips being a trip to Alaska with her husband Paul in their early years of retirement. Jayne was very involved with Girl Scouts over the years holding various positions from local troop leader to District Coordinator.

Jayne was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ann Otto, and her beloved husband Paul Bullock. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Brian (Tami) Bullock of Adel , Kris (David) Barnes of Denton, TX and David Bullock of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Whitney (Adam) Rairden, Abbi Bullock, Jason (Bailey) Barnes, Kyle Barnes, Jessica (Alex) Preston, Thomas Greenwood, and Amber Bullock; great – grandchildren: Emma Rairden, Brady & Cohen Barnes, William(Liam) Preston and Elsie Greenwood; her siblings: Kay (Doug) Baumgartner and Steve Otto; sisters-in-law: Annabelle (Carl) Springer and Harriet Bullock; Uncle: Virgil (Marion) Hapes and other cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held in Marshalltown later upon Brian’s return from military service. Final preparations were handled by Johnson Family Funeral home in Stuart, IA. Memorials can be sent to Hospice of the Midwest or local Alzheimer’s association.
